Microsoft's baby MSN, got a Makeover

Posted by AliAziz On November - 9 - 2009

Microsoft’s web portal MSN.com has been given an extensive makeover for the first time in almost ten years. The new, revamped MSN homepage is now live. The new MSN butterfly represents a fresh new approach for MSN and is the cornerstone of the new design.

MSN’s new look based on cleaner lines, a focus on select verticals, and easier user configuration along with a new logo. The new home page provides easier access to powerful Bing search, favorite social networks, more relevant local information, and the latest news and entertainment information — all in one location.

One of the more interesting updates is the inclusion of Facebook news feeds and Twitter updates, both of which are located as tabs within the Windows Live module. Using Facebook Connect and Twitter OAuth, you can sign into these sites without having to enter your username and password. These new features allow you to keep up-to-date on your social networks right from the homepage. You can also update your status from the homepage, too.

“The time was right for us to make a big bet, and our approach needed to be bold,” said Gurry. “Today is an important transformation for MSN, and it’s only the beginning.”

UK users will see the new-look homepage in 2010.
