The “Bendable” eReader – From Bridgestone…

The eReader market is just expanding phenomally. From Amazon to Barnes and Noble. And today  Bridgestone has released its all-color touchscreen e-book reader.

It’s no Kindle but slightly much better we think as its is is about 5.8mm thick, features a 13.1-inch touch-sensitive e-paper display and has wireless connectivity built within.

The most intriguing feature is that the whole eReader is bendable.

Here is a video of the ePaper technology that Bridgestone is using in the eReader…

I would definitely purchase one.

Would you?

After many months wondering if purchasing a kindle was a good idea, I finally made the plunge and purchased one just before a 3-week long vacation. I hastily downloaded books that I had meant to read for awhile. First wonderful surprise was the choice of French novels in French that I downloaded for about $1 a piece. I also purchased other books including “Hot, Flat and Crowded” that I had read before but wanted to read again and take notes for a class I am teaching on Environmental Ethics. All books came within the advertized 60 seconds. The second surprise was to be able without any difficulty to read under full sun. I was also amazed by the long lasting battery which only required a reloading once a week during the 3 weeks despite intensive reading. Please note that I never left the battery go below 75% of its full capacity (I was not very confident that the battery was actually still almost full!) The recharging of the battery was seamless despite being in three different countries with different plug configurations, voltage,…
The size of the Kindle was perfect for the ever shrinking economy class airplane, but the light in the plane was not sufficient and I had to use another “kindle” light I had also purchased. The ability to turn the wireless feature on and off was a wonderful “airplane advantage.” The note taking was very easy and very enjoyable to read through independently of the book itself.
I also ordered a book sample and could not wait to be back in the US to purchase the full copy. The wireless feature did not function in Europe. I was happy that I had purchased so many books before leaving.
The cover I purchased at the same time was not very good. The mechanism to hook up the kindle is weak and faulted many times.

well i think e-readers are coming of age but it will take time for them to get dependable, rightly said that about battery life etc, but most companies like sony and NYT are coming up with good prototypes soon…

  11. I just came across your blog and have been reading along. I thought I would leave my first comment. I don’t know what to say except that I have enjoyed reading. Great blog. I will keep visiting this blog very often.

  12. Thanks for posting this. I am fairly new to social media and my blog traffic is slowly increasing. I am fairly confident it’s due to me spending a good deal of time commenting on other blogs. Not only does it get my blog out there, but more importantly, I can keep up with what bloggers and readers are talking about! I also spend a great deal of time on Facebook and Twitter… But I really want to reach out to other bloggers in my same arena.

  13. That rss option on your website here is awesome, you should tell more folks about it in your next post. I haven’t noticed it a first, now I’m using it each morning to check on any updates. I’m on a very slow dial-up connection in Brazil and it’s quite daunting to sit there and wait for such a long time ’til the page loads… but hey, I just found your rss page and added it to the Google Reader and voil? – I’m always up-to-date! Well pal, keep up the good work and make that rss button a little bigger so that other people can enjoy that as well :-P
